The Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities, Manipal University in association with the International Journal Deleuze Studies is organizing this conference. Manipal University is a name to reckon with not just in India, but the world over. It started with a medical college in 1953, and later institution after institution was added to reach its present globalised form. It is perhaps the first globalised university from India with its campuses and teaching centres spread over countries like Caribbean, Malaysia, Dubai, Nepal etc. As an important higher education provider from Asia it has given equal emphasis to the teaching of humanities and social sciences with that of pure sciences and technology. Details about the university can be accessed in the following link.

The Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities (MCPH) began functioning as part of Manipal University, India, in February 2010. This Centre was established not only to promote humanities and liberal arts education at Manipal University, but also to establish a world-class centre for teaching and research in philosophy and humanities.

With the increased awareness all over the world about the importance of humanities education, MCPH is designed to provide quality education in these fields. And as it is not possible to understand the nature of our societies or our experiences without drawing deep from both Indian and western intellectual traditions, MCPH facilitates a cosmopolitan approach to education and research. Such a holistic approach aims at enabling a better understanding of the world of humanities where questions of justice and ethics stand side by side with questions of development. More information on MCPH and its activities can be accessed at these two websites of which the links are given below.
